Remi Human hair. What is it? Sometimes spelled remy human hair, it is used in wigs, hair extensions, weaves and in clip ons. Remy or remi is not a brand name but rather the term refers to a type of hair, also known as cuticle hair and virgin hair, generally youthful hair.
The hair has such remarkable texture and longevity because when taken from an individual donorthe direction that the hair was growing is kept intact. Additionally, the outer layer of the hair, known as the cuticle, is not stripped but is left intact.
What is the advantage of this? Such hair requires less processing. When hair is gathered from several donors and thrown together, the natural growing pattern is lost and the hair tangles easily. To make up for this the natural cuticle or natural protein coating, is stripped away with an acid bath and given an artificial coating made of silicone.
